Slow Lorises are not endangered, they are in danger of becoming endangered. One should only buy a slow loris from registered, legal pet traders whose slow lorises are raised in captivity from birth. But if someone is considering this, then you should know that slow lorises have poison glends in their mouths and if they bite you, you will get awful boils. They mix this poison in their salliva and lick it to their young to protect them.
Slow Loris are endangered full stop. They are listed as endangered in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and the Endangered Species Act.
Captive breeding success in Slow Loris is so low, especially among non-professional zoologists, that I doubt your ‘registered pet traders’ are doing much but buying from the black market, with all the problems of the above bbc link.
Any breeding that does exist would be better focused on release programs than the pet trade.
The poison glands are near their elbows - which they lick and mix with their saliva then bite you.
Actually, if you check their youtube channel you’ll find that Sonya was raised in a slow loris nursery and they were able to shelter her in their home. She has never been in the wild and probably wouldn’t survive if she was. Being an endangered species, I am quite positive that whoever owned that nursery would not send this adorable bundle of cuteness home with cruel people.

Loris is really called a Loris. The owner/keeper hasn’t revealed it’s human-given nickname. Slow Loris is the type/genus of Loris. There’s another cousin called Slender Loris, that is more common.

No, not from Madagascar, however it looks like one of the cute critters from the movie. They are normally found in: India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Thailand, southern China, Phillipines. Problem is they are endangered and are being shipped illegally to places they wouldn’t normally live.

The funniest thing about loris’ which people don’t realise before getting them as pets is that they continuously urinate on their feet so that they can leave scent trails wherever they go. In the wild it’s so they know which other loris’ are wandering around their territories, but in captivity it’s just plain smelly :p
